The Palace of the Republika Srpska in Banja Luka was illuminated tonight in the colors of the Serbian flag to mark Serbian Statehood Day, despite the decision of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Republika Srpska ethnic group in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia decided to "jointly celebrate Sretenje as Statehood Day with the declaration on the protection of national and political rights and the common future of the Serbian people, adopted at the "All-Serbian Assembly" in Belgrade in June 2024."

This year, the Republika Srpska ethnic group will officially celebrate Sretenje as Statehood Day with a series of events, under the slogan "Unity and Pride", which has caused many reactions, Serbian media report.

Among other things, the member of the Presidency of BiH, Denis Beqirović, said that this celebration, as well as the arrival of Serbian President Aleksandar Vuçiq, pose a threat to the peace and security not only of the region, but of all of Europe.

"The effort of Vuçiq "to impose Serbian Statehood Day as the entity Statehood Day in Bosnia and Herzegovina represents an unprecedented violation of international and national law," said Beqirović.

We recall that the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, precisely upon Becirović's complaint, banned the display of the flag, coat of arms, and anthem of Serbia in the institutions of the Republika Srpska.
