The founder and owner of the world-renowned fashion brand Mango, 71-year-old Isak Andic, tragically lost his life today in Catalonia.
The accident happened near the Salnitra caves in Collbato, not far from Barcelona, while he was accompanied by his family members. According to reports, he slipped on the path and fell down a precipice about 150 meters deep.
Catalan police received a report of the accident just before 13pm and mountain civil defense teams and helicopter support arrived at the scene.
Isak Andic was born in 1953 in Istanbul in a Jewish family and in 1969 he moved to Barcelona. Together with brother Nahman, he founded Mango in 1984, which grew into a global fashion brand in over 110 countries.
The company's CEO, Toni Ruiz, said Andic was an inspirational leader whose vision and commitment will be remembered. Andic's fortune was estimated at 4.5 billion euros, making him one of the richest residents of Spain.
