During this year, the number of women who have performed voluntary abortions has increased. About 130 artificial abortions were registered within nine months of this year at the Gynecology Clinic at the University Clinical Center of Kosovo. Meanwhile, in the same period, the number of births is about six thousand.

These are the data, which the director of Gynecology, Zef Ndrejaj, made known in an interview for KosovaPress. He also talks about the number of cesarean births, which shows that almost half of them are done this way.

Ndrejaj also spoke about the wards of this clinic, which are faced with the lack of an air conditioning system.

In November 2008, the Law on Termination of Pregnancy was approved, which entered into force in January 2009. This law stipulates that any abortion beyond the tenth week can only be performed with the consent of the Professional Health Commission, which consists of three professionals - two obstetrician-gynecologists and a psychiatrist.
