The Specialized Chambers of Kosovo have filed a new indictment against Thaçi for allegedly influencing witnesses.
On November 29, 2024, the Judge of the Preliminary Procedure of the Specialized Chambers of Kosovo confirmed the indictment and then issued four arrest warrants and a summons.
The former head of KIA Bashkim Smakaj, the former head of Malisheva Isni Kilaj, Fadil Fazliu were arrested on December 5 in Kosovo and transferred to the detention facility of the DHSK on December 6, based on the confirmed indictment and arrest warrants. issued by the Judge of the Preliminary Procedure of the Specialized Chambers of Kosovo. The Office of the Specialized Prosecutor (SPO) carried out the arrests with the support of EULEX.
The arrest warrant issued by the Judge of the Preliminary Procedure was delivered to Thaçi in the detention facility of the Specialized Chambers of Kosovo on December 5, based on the confirmed indictment.
Hajredin Kuç was handed the confirmed indictment and the summons to appear before the Judge of the Preliminary Procedure, based on the confirmed indictment, for the first appearance.
According to the confirmed indictment, at least between April 12, 2023 and November 2, 2023, during visits to the detention facility, "Thaçi gave Smakaj, Kilaj, Fazliu and Kuçi confidential information about ZPS witnesses, instructions to influence the testimonies of the ZPS witnesses and the details of how they had to do this."
In the indictment, it is alleged that Thaçi coordinated three separate groups, formed with Smakaj, Fazliu and Kilaj, and other persons against whom charges have not been brought, as well as Kuçi, with the aim of influencing the testimony of witnesses in the context of the current trial Thaçi and others.
In the confirmed indictment, three charges have been brought against Thaçi for attempting to obstruct official persons in the performance of official duties, by participating in the joint action of a group; four charges of breaching the confidentiality of proceedings, and four charges of disobeying the court.
Against Fazliu, Smakaj and Kilaj, a charge of attempting to obstruct official persons in the performance of their official duties, by participating in the joint action of a group, and a charge of disobedience to the court was brought, while two charges were brought against Kuči. for disobedience to the court.
