On the eve of the last match in the Nations League group against Lithuania, Prime Minister Albin Kurti has supported the Kosovo National Team, after the decision to withdraw from the field of the match against Romania in Bucharest due to racist and anti-Kosovo insults from the Romanian fans.
FFK President Agim Ademi thanked Prime Minister Kurti for his visit and support, stressing the importance of institutional support for the Kosovo National Team.
During his speech, Prime Minister Kurti appreciated the attitude of the players and the Federation as principled, fair and useful for the country and football.
"I congratulate you for the excellent game you played in Bucharest, where you dominated the green field, and at the same time I express our full solidarity with the attitude you took there. It is a principled, fair and useful attitude, both for Kosovo, and for football, and for every citizen of our country, who felt represented by the statement and attitude of captain Amir Rrahmani, for which I congratulate and thank you from heart", said Kurti.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of justice and unity in the face of such challenges in the future.
"It is not the first time that such a situation is happening to us. Chauvinist calls against Kosovo and Albanians, racist calls against our players and our people have also happened in the past. Only now the cup is full. And there is no place in the cup for more such denigrating attacks which are unacceptable in the civilized world. When this happens in a country that has not yet recognized us, everything becomes even more difficult", added the Prime Minister.
He promised institutional support and involvement in the international arena to combat such behaviors.
"As the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, with the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, we will do everything to continue this battle in the international political and diplomatic arena, but also in the legal and legal aspect , so that UEFA and FIFA punish those who deserve it", the head of the Kosovar executive underlined.
At the end of his speech, Prime Minister Kurti quoted the statement of the captain of the national team Amir Rrahmani after the match:
"I am ending this speech by quoting Amir Rrahman exactly. "I want to appeal to UEFA and FIFA not to allow these things. Kosovo has had a difficult past, war, massacres and everything, it was not easy to get here, therefore we deserve respect. Everyone should know that Kosovo is Kosovo, or Kosovo is Albania, That's it, it ends here", said Kurti.
