A report from the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), considered the most reliable source for climate, shows the critical state of the planet, which has recorded the 10 hottest years over the last decade.

The year 2024 was confirmed as the hottest on record, with global temperatures likely to have exceeded 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels for the first time. Levels of greenhouse gases, including CO2, methane and nitrous oxide, are the highest in the last 800.000 years, writes CNN.

The oceans are heating up at an accelerating rate, causing coral bleaching, powerful storms and massive glacier melt. Sea levels have doubled since 1993, reaching record highs in 2024, with severe consequences for coastal communities, flooding and erosion, it reports. KosovaPress.

The year 2024 marked the largest climate-related population displacement in 16 years, with millions of people forced from their homes by cyclones, floods and droughts.

Scientists warn that carbon neutrality is no longer enough and that a lack of action by governments and businesses will only make the situation worse.
