In the absence of a quorum, the meeting of the Parliamentary Investigative Committee for the process of subsidizing the purchase of textbooks and teaching aids for students of primary education and lower secondary education for the school year 2023/2024 has failed.
Fadile Dyla, general secretary of MASHTI, Avni Rexha, acting director of the Department of pre-university education, Genc Hamzaj from the Information Society Agency - ASHI were expected to be interviewed in this commission.
For this failure of this meeting, the opposition accused the majority, while the deputies from the position said that they will not participate due to the conditions imposed by the opposition parties for the dismissal of the head of the Vetëvendosje parliamentary group, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, so that to participate in the voting.
The chairman of the commission, Shemsedin Dreshaj, said that they were prepared to continue interviewing the next witnesses today.
Meanwhile, the deputy of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Bekim Haxhiu, said that the boycott by the majority will not stop the investigations into the subsidy of school textbooks.
The other deputy from the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Ardian Kastrati, has emphasized that the boycott from the position is planned.
On the other hand, regarding the failure of the meeting of this commission, statements were made by the party in power. The MP from the Vetëvendosje Movement, Armend Muja, mentioned the conditioning of the opposition regarding the dismissal of the head of the parliamentary group, Mimoza Kusari-Lila.
Meanwhile, the MP of the Vetëvendosje Movement Arjeta Fejza has said that the members of the opposition in the commission have not shown willingness to fulfill the mission of the commission formed at their own request.
