At the commemorative meeting organized on the occasion of the death of Haxhi Thaçi, father of former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi, his figure and contribution to the country's freedom were highly praised. It was said that Haxhi Thaçi sowed the seeds of freedom and left the historical legacy of Kosovo.
In this organization, which was attended by a large number of citizens from all over Kosovo, associates of former president Hashim Thaçi, as well as the Speaker of the Albanian Parliament along with cabinet ministers, Thaçi's absence from his father's funeral was highlighted.
The Mayor of Skenderaj, Fadil Nura, said that Haxhi Thaçi is part of the generation that planted the seed of freedom and watered it with extraordinary dedication and great sacrifices, reports KosovaPress.
Nura considered the decision to not allow former President Thaçi to be present at his father's death today as a serious blow.
Meanwhile, the leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Memli Krasniqi, said that the values, teachings, and dignity of what he calls Uncle Haxhi are the invisible forces that led Hashim Thaçi to become a pillar of our national history.
"President, just like the people of Kosovo, your father was always proud of you," Krasniqi addressed former President Thaçi, on the occasion of not being able to participate in this commemorative meeting, reports KosovaPress.
Bedri Hamza, the candidate for prime minister from the Democratic Party of Kosovo, called Haxhi Thaçi a wise man, an exemplary parent, a rare friend, and an unwavering patriot.
He said that Haxhi Thaçi was not just a father, but a symbol of dedication and an unbreakable pillar of the Thaçi family.
At the commemorative meeting, the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Albania, Elisa Spiropali, also gave a speech, praising Haxhi Thaçi's parental upbringing.
Meanwhile, Linda Rama, the wife of the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, said that she wanted to be with the mother and wife of former President Thaçi today, to share the pain, reports. KosovaPress.
The announcement of Haxhi Thaçi's death was made on Sunday, a few days after former President Hashim Thaçi visited him at the QKUK Internal Clinic, where he was being treated.
Thaçi's funeral will take place today at 15:00 PM in the cemetery of the village of Burojë in Skenderaj.
Meanwhile, the Special Court has rejected Thaçi's request to attend his father's funeral.
