The Assembly of Kosovo, with 62 votes in favor, has approved in principle the Draft Law on the Mediterranean Games Prishtina 2030, in today's plenary session.

This draft law was considered a historical moment by the Minister of Culture Hajrulla Çeku, who said that he develops the sport in Kosovo and it is a unique opportunity to improve the image in the international arena. For this draft law, the majority deputies voted to avoid the regulation for approval.

"With the approval of this draft law, the Mediterranean Games are declared a matter of special public interest for Kosovo, reflecting the strategic importance that this project has in the economic, sports and diplomatic dimensions. This bill marks a historic moment for the development of sports in the country and a unique opportunity to improve our image in the international arena," he said.

In addition, the Assembly failed to approve again in the second reading the Draft Law on reproductive health and medically assisted fertilization, as well as the Draft Law on civil status, since only 45 deputies participated in the vote. Only the deputies of the parliamentary majority were in the plenary session.

Regarding the failure of the approval of these draft laws, the Speaker of the Assembly, Glauk Konjufca, said that today's session may be the last of this legislature, so they are at risk of returning to zero.

"Dear MPs, keep in mind that for these draft laws that we do not have a quorum, these will go to the next session whenever we organize it. If we have another chance in this legislature, if not, we know what happens to them then", he said. /E.Zeqiri/
