The Assembly of Kosovo will hold a plenary session on November 11, in which the budget for 2025 will be discussed. The opposition parties said that they will not vote on the Draft Law on the budget, while emphasizing that it has major shortcomings.
They even declared that this budget also has legal and constitutional problems, citing the decision to increase salaries in the public sector.
On the other hand, the ruling party declared that they have the votes to approve the budget, while emphasizing that it was processed in the Assembly based on the terms and procedures set by the legislature.
The head of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Arben Gashi, said that the budget for 2025 has shortcomings, but as he considered, it will be short-lived since after the February 9 elections "the new government will review it".
Criticism of the budget was also addressed by the head of the AAK Parliamentary Group, Besnik Tahiri, who called it "a draft law that confirms the stifling of economic development and that there is no important capital project for the country".
But despite the criticism, the head of the Vetëvendosje Parliamentary Group, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, said that the majority has the votes to approve the 2025 budget.
According to her, the decision-making of the opposition is their matter, but as she said, this budget was processed in the Assembly according to the procedure and in the regular terms.
The draft law on the budget for 2025 was approved last week in the government of Kosovo.
Through this draft law, the salary increase for public sector workers is also foreseen.
Also, the deadline for the new tax rates has been postponed./KosovaPress
