In response to US President Donald Trump's plan to buy Greenland, an autonomous region of Denmark, a campaign has been launched to make "California a Danish territory."

Regarding this, the website "Denmarkification" has made a statement regarding the campaign.

The statement says the campaign aims to buy the state of California from the US and turn it into Danish territory, in response to Trump's plan to buy Greenland.

It further states that "Republican Trump does not like California, which is one of the Democratic strongholds. Trump cannot be said to be California's biggest fan. We are sure that you will be willing to give this place away for a reasonable price," reports AA.

The statement emphasizes that Trump can do whatever he decides and that citizens "cannot stop" him.

"If Trump wants to sell California, he can sell it," the statement said.

The statement further referred to controversial issues in the US, claiming that the rule of law, universal healthcare, and evidence-based politics can prevail in California.

The statement listed the reasons for choosing California; such as its warm and sunny climate, technological dominance, avocado production, freedom and the fact that it has Disneyland, one of the most famous amusement parks in the country, and noted that if the state were to be purchased, Disneyland would be renamed after Danish author Hans Christian Andersenland.

"We will even give away a lifetime supply of Danish pastries to sweeten the deal," says the statement, which has so far been signed by around 200 people.

Greenland, one of two autonomous regions along with the Faroe Islands under the Kingdom of Denmark, is located 2 kilometers from Denmark.
