Genocide Museum, Çeku: Serbia's crimes in Kosovo will be documented

The Government of Kosovo approved on Wednesday the establishment of the Museum of Genocide and Struggle for Freedom. The executive said that in this way he aims to document the crimes of former Yugoslavia and Serbia against Albanians and others in Kosovo.

It will be established as a separate unit within the National Museum of Kosovo, while after the entry into force of the Law on museums as an institution, announced the Minister of Culture, Hajrulla Çeku.

At a press conference, Çeku said that for the construction of this institution, they provided the necessary budget.

Regarding this museum, he said that they have been in communication with several countries that have distinguished experience in the issue of museumization and the presentation of the past.

He said this institution will have its main building in Pristina, in the MKRS facility.

In the vote for the establishment of this museum, the Minister for Return and Communities, Nenad Rashiq, abstained.

In Kosovo, over 13.000 civilians were killed in the last war in 1998-1999. Meanwhile, over 1.600 people are still missing.
