The British Embassy in Pristina held the United Kingdom Remembrance Day ceremony, in which all those who lost their lives while serving with NATO Forces in Kosovo were remembered.

Present at the ceremony, in addition to Ambassador Nicholas Abbott, were the Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Glauk Konjufca, the Minister of Defense, Armend Mehaj, the commander of the KSF, Bashkim Jashari, as well as the leader of the AAK, Ramush Haradinaj, who have paid tribute to the memorial dedicated to the soldiers of the United Kingdom who fell in their peacekeeping mission in Kosovo.

The Ambassador of the United Kingdom in Kosovo, Nicholas Abbot appreciated this day as a special occasion to remember the sacrifice of all those who fought and continue to fight for freedom, while also mentioning the war in Ukraine.

"This is always a special occasion, I think, for me, as the British ambassador. Always special because of everything it brings with it, all the memories of what happened in the past, but also I think, especially this year, realizing that the war is happening again in Europe and seeing what's happening in Ukraine , we are remembering not only the sacrifice of those who have come before us, but also the sacrifice of those who are fighting now, are fighting for their freedom, for their independence. So, I hope they are also on your mind today," said Abbot.

The lieutenant colonel and senior national representative for the armed forces of the United Kingdom in Kosovo, Benjamin Ingham said that it is necessary to remember the commitment of all members of the armed forces, not only those who lost their lives but also those who serve in military operations .

"Today is an extremely important event, not only for members of the British armed forces who are in Kosovo today, but also for all members of the armed forces of the United Kingdom who are celebrating the Remembrance Day ceremony today. It is imperative that we remember the selfless dedication and commitment of all members of the armed forces, not only those who lost their lives, but also those who serve in military operations," said Ingham.

Chaplain Rev Dr Gary Watt said that many people come to Kosovo to enjoy nature in the mountains, who face challenges while climbing them.

"Many people like to come to Kosovo, climb the mountains and face a challenge. I don't know if you do this here, but in Scotland, when people climb mountains, they collect some stones at the top of the mountain and put them on top of each other as a sign of remembrance, as a sign that something has been achieved in that place. It's hard enough to climb...especially at my age, it's not the easiest thing in the world to do, and it's good you can make a sign about it because when people go up that mountain, they can see the stones there and say that other people have passed this path, have been here before, that other people have climbed this mountain and they have achieved the same challenge as me," he said.

Meanwhile, the head of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Ramush Haradinaj, wrote on Facebook that they joined our strategic allies in marking the Act of Remembrance, a day when Great Britain and the Commonwealth remember the fallen since The First World War.
