(Completed) The former president of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, in his first appearance in the new case brought against him and three other accused by the Specialized Chambers of Kosovo in The Hague, has not declared for the indictment, saying that has not yet read it and that he will respond in the time provided by law.

Thaçi said that for 4 years now he is facing another court process and the Kosovar society, his family and he are eagerly waiting for the end of that process in which justice awaits.

"I was suddenly notified of the new indictment. I know that Kosovo is on the verge of general elections, but I am part of the electoral race, I do not pose a political risk to anyone, that is why I am asking today, I believe and respect the Constitution and the laws of the Republic of Kosovo and I ask all of you to the Constitution and laws of Kosovo are respected because the Specialized Chambers are a product of Kosovo's institutions", he said.

He said that he understands the indictment but has not read it, therefore regarding his guilt or innocence, he will respond in time, according to the law.

Meanwhile, the pre-trial judge ruled that Thaçi should continue to be detained.

Another session was also held against the defendant Bashkim Smakaj, who has not declared himself regarding the indictment, saying that he will respond within the legal deadline of 30 days, as he wants to see all the documents that he has not yet received. has received

Even Fadil Fazliu has said that he consulted with his lawyer and is innocent.

The Specialized Chambers of Kosovo in The Hague have decided to postpone to Monday, December 9, 2024, the first appearance of Isni Kilaj in the case where he is accused together with Hashim Thaçi, Bashkim Smakaj, Fadil Fazliu and Hajredin Kuçi for obstruction of justice .

On November 29, 2024, the Judge of the Preliminary Procedure of the Specialized Chambers of Kosovo confirmed the indictment and then issued four arrest warrants and a summons.

In the indictment, it is alleged that Thaçi coordinated three separate groups, formed with Smakaj, Fazliu and Kilaj, and other persons against whom charges have not been brought, as well as Kuçi, with the aim of influencing the testimony of witnesses in the context of the current trial Thaçi and others.

In the confirmed indictment, three charges have been brought against Thaçi for attempting to obstruct official persons in the performance of official duties, by participating in the joint action of a group; four charges of breaching the confidentiality of proceedings, and four charges of disobeying the court.

Hajredin Kuçi's first appearance session is scheduled for Monday, December 9, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.
