According to the Spanish newspaper "Marca", Real Madrid has set its sights on Roma defender Mario Hermoso for the January transfer window. Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid have been plagued by injuries in defence, with David Alaba, Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao all sidelined with ligament injuries.
Antonio Rudiger and Academy product Raúl Asencio are currently the only centre-backs available at the Bernabeu, so the La Liga giants will be looking for a new centre-back in the winter transfer window.
According to "Marca", one of Merengues' options is Roma defender Hermoso, a former Atletico Madrid star who flourished in Real Madrid's youth sector, but failed to make his debut for the first team, reports KosovaPress.
Hermoso joined Roma on a free transfer last summer and his contract expires in June 2027. His skill and knowledge of La Liga make him a suitable candidate for a move to Real Madrid and Roma's troubled situation could also contribute to a transfer in January.
The Giallorossi have already fired two coaches this season, Daniele De Rossi and Ivan Juric, and are expected to hire a third this week.
