The Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Daulina Osmani, in the panel for education, youth, culture and sports of the General Council of the Vetëvendosje Movement, said that Kosovo for the first time is developing a state strategy for the development of sports, which currently is in public consultation.
Osmani has emphasized that until August of this year MKRS has 36 licensed sports federations with a completely new process in accordance with the standards and criteria of sports governance.
"For the first time, Kosovo is making a state strategy for the development of sports, which is currently on the public consultation platform. More than 2 million euros of their subsidy budget have been spent. We have reached a period where today, in Kosovo, there is no sports federation, which is not recognized by the state, which has access to public funds. This was realized through the licensing process of sports federations. Until August of this year, we have 36 sports federations licensed with a completely new process in accordance with sports governance standards and criteria", said Osmani.
MKRS has subsidized over 12 million euros to sports federations from the 3 million it was in 2019.
"From the budget of nearly 3 million euros spent on subsidizing sports organizations in 2019, last year for 2023 our ministry has subsidized sports activities worth over 12 million euros. In addition to increasing the budget, we have made sure that we have also taken measures for the way we are distributing it and how the budget is being spent. From 2021, when we started governing, we have a public call to give Kosovo's clubs equal and comprehensive access to the financing process," she said.
