Osmani: The draft statute of the Association does not pass the test of the Constitutional Court
The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has said that the draft statute of the Association of Serb-majority Municipalities, drafted by the European Union, is not in accordance with the Constitution of Kosovo.
She said that the same has numerous problems which they have also addressed to the new EU envoy for dialogue, Peter Sorensen, in the meeting held earlier this week.
"Personally, I believe that it is not in accordance with the Constitution of Kosovo, nor is it in accordance with the norms and standards of the European Union and the values of the Council of Europe. It is also not in accordance with the decision of the Constitutional Court of 2015 and such a draft statute that contradicts these three has no way of entering into force and I do not believe that it would pass any test in the Constitutional Court," Osmani said.
Osmani stressed that they expect the new EU leadership to take Kosovo's demands into account.
Osmani made these comments at a press conference after meeting with the President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkevics.
