Ophthalmologist Xhevat Lumi, who has been practicing his profession for 30 years in Ljubljana, Slovenia, considers that the organization of the Clinical Congress of the College of Surgeons of Kosovo is extremely important as it enables the advancement of surgery in the country.
He said holding events of this type, where surgeons from different institutions, countries and continents meet, is of exceptional importance for the exchange of experiences, the transmission of experiences and the advancement of medicine and surgery in general.
At the fourth Congress of the College of Surgeons of Kosovo, where about 500 health professionals are participating, Lumi presented the problem of diabetic retinopathy, an eye disease that occurs as a result of sugar disease.
"At the fourth Congress of the College of Surgeons of Kosovo, I presented the problem of diabetic retinopathy, the high rate of prevalence of diabetic retinopathy, the various aspects of the treatment and treatment of diabetic retinopathy. Experiences from Slovenia and the world with the newest approaches and I have tried to convey that experience to my colleagues here in Kosovo. Diabetic retinopathy is an eye disease that occurs as a result of sugar disease or diabetes smerlitus," said Lumi.
He emphasized that in the future he will return to Kosovo to continue his profession together with other colleagues.
"I am an ophthalmologist by profession. I am an eye specialist at the clinical center in Ljubljana, Slovenia, I have been working for 30 years. I am an eye surgeon, I deal with surgery of the posterior segment of the eye, I am also a surgeon of the anterior segment of the eye... So far it has gone well, I am willing to share my experience and knowledge with all my colleagues from all over Kosovo and from all Albanian lands... Have you thought of returning to Kosovo to continue your profession? The idea has always been present, but until now, for mainly objective reasons, it has not been realized", said Lumi.
The Congress was organized by the College of Surgeons of Kosovo and supported by the Chamber of Doctors of Kosovo, and started its proceedings on Thursday, with more than 50 lecturers from Kosovo, the region and the world. The proceedings of this congress will be concluded on Saturday.
