A 32-year-old woman stabbed six people on a bus in Siegen-Eiserfeld.

Three people received life-threatening injuries, one was seriously injured and two lightly, WDR reports

The incident happened last night around 19:40 when the German woman, who is suspected of suffering from a mental illness, attacked six people aged 16 to 30 with a knife.

The bus was on its way to the city festival in Siegen when the incident happened and several passengers called the police, after which the 32-year-old woman was arrested. Investigators currently do not believe this is an act of terrorism.

A spokesman for transport company Westfalen-Süd said the driver immediately stopped the bus and opened all the doors to rescue the passengers, believed to be around 40.

After a knife attack in Solingen a week ago, in which an Islamist killed three people and seriously injured eight others, the city festival in Siegen is applying an increased security concept and the festival will go ahead.
