On November 1, Moldovan police conducted more than 60 checks in a number of settlements and in the autonomous region of Gagauzia.
This is what Radio Liberty reports, Ukrinform broadcasts.
The General Inspectorate of Moldova's police said on Saturday that the searches related to several criminal proceedings for suspected voter bribery and illegal party financing.
The police established the involvement of members of the Shor party and the Victoria political association in efforts to buy people's votes before the second round of the presidential election.
As a result of the raids, the police seized large sums of money intended to be delivered to "activists" and voters, lists of sympathizers, copies of passports confirming travel to Russia to receive the funds.
According to the report, law enforcement has detained four people for a period of 72 hours.
NewsMaker reports that voters were offered money to vote "against one of the candidates."
As Ukrinform wrote earlier, 50.46% of voters supported the introduction of the European vector in the Constitution in the last referendum in Moldova, while Maia Sandu and Aleksandr Stoyanoglo went to the second round of the presidential elections.
Sandu, the incumbent running for a second term, secured 42.45% (656.354 votes) in the first round while Stoyanoglo, a candidate from the Socialist Party (PSRM), sealed 25.98% (401.726 votes).
The runoff is scheduled for today.
