Liverpool players have taken another big step towards winning the English championship today, after tonight they defeated current champion Manchester City as guests with a score of 2:0, in the derby of the 26th round of the Premier League.
The goals for Arne Slot's team's 19th victory of the season were scored by Mohamed Salah in the 14th minute and Dominik Szoboszlai in the 37th minute.
Salah was assisted by Szoboszlai for the goal and the Egyptian then returned the favour. City, without the injured Erling Haaland, lacked firepower and their defeat underlined their startling decline this season after winning the title for the past four seasons.
The Reds lead the table with 64 points, 11 more than second-placed Arsenal. Pep Guardiola's Manchester City remain fourth with 44 points, a position that ensures qualification for the Champions League, but which currently keeps them 20 points behind leaders Liverpool.
Manchester City in the 27th round of the Premier League plays away to Tottenham Hotspur on February 26, while on the same date Liverpool hosts Newcastle United at "Anfield".
