Indictment and then maximum punishment are being sought for the murder of Liridona Ademaj, one year after the tragic case.

Liridona Ademaj was killed on November 29 last year on "Dalip Alshiqi" street in Pristina.

Even after a year, the Prosecutor's Office has not filed an indictment until there are three suspects for this murder - among them Liridona's husband, Naim Murseli.

The Kosovo Police initially reported the case of the 39-year-old woman as "robbery with consequences of murder". On December 1, the police arrested her husband as a suspect in this case. After him, Granit Plava, suspected of committing the murder, and Kushtrim Kokalla, suspected of assisting in the commission of the crime, were also arrested.

The Basic Prosecutor's Office in Prishtina tells KosovaPress that they are in the investigation phase.

"Regarding the case for which you requested information, the Basic Prosecutor's Office in Pristina informs you that the criminal case is in the investigation phase, while at the moment of the decision regarding this case we will be able to provide more information", says the Basic Prosecutor's Office in a written response.

Even a year after the murder, Liridona's brother, Leonard Ademaj, continues to demand that the indictment be lifted as soon as possible.

The initiation of this court process, he says, would be a relief for the family.

"We understand that the prosecution must prepare the indictment according to the law and in a professional manner, and for this there is still a deadline according to the law. However, the filing of an indictment as soon as possible and the maximum penalty provided by the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo is a relief for us as a family and for all the self-sacrificing and benevolent people of Kosovo. The murder of Liridona Ademaj happened in complicity by being planned, finding the executioner, buying the weapon and together with the third party organizing and executing the murder of the wife of the co-perpetrator Naim Murseli, according to his order in a very cunning way", he tells KosovaPress Leonard Ademaj.

Organizations dealing with the protection of women's rights find the delay in filing the indictment disturbing.

Adelina Berisha from the Kosovo Women's Network tells KosovaPress that every delay in the justice system is a burden and stress for the family, but also a failure of the bodies to protect women.

Meanwhile, according to lawyer Musa Damati, the prosecution should have been more transparent.

Liridona Ademaj left behind two children.

Her brother tells KosovaPress that they are under the care of the competent institutions in Sweden.

"We are in constant contact with the children who came under the care of the social and competent bodies in Sweden, whom we thank for their commitment. The children are most worried about the fact that they were in the car and how their father squeezed their mother's arm at the critical moment so that the murder was carried out as easily as possible", he emphasized.

According to psychologist Ilir Havolli, in cases where children are present when the tragic event occurs, their treatment is needed.

The murder of Liridona has been condemned by citizens and institutions, demanding maximum punishment for the perpetrators./B.Ibishi
