LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku has said that the party he leads will remain in opposition and will respect the will of the people expressed in the vote on February 9.
In a Facebook post, Abdixhiku has said that the LDK's positions remain the same regarding the eventual formation of a government with the Vetëvendosje Movement as the winner of the elections.
"Despite everything, as I said at the election night conference, this result is not a result of change for Kosovo; because the people of Kosovo have other preferences. We respect them. I will respect these preferences, because I do not know any other way! My pre-election positions and those of the LDK remain today's commitments. Let's get used to a politics where keeping our words is a basic standard and where taking power at any cost is not the goal," he wrote. Abdixhiku.
He said that the LDK has seen an increase in its electorate in these elections, after a historic decline.
"It is important that we have found each other again, we have returned to the base. It is important that we have returned ourselves to our historical numbers. This is our base! LDK did not win the elections, we would like this in particular, we know this, but LDK is expected to add a full 80 thousand votes; and the jump from 12 to 20% will be proven as an extraordinary achievement. Wait a few days. We did not start the race with either 50% or 20%. We were only 12%! Today, we rely on the citizenry that gives us both calm and impetus for the new journey", he said Abdixhiku.Preliminary CEC results, after counting 99.72 percent of the votes, rank the Democratic League of Kosovo as the third political entity in the country, with 147 votes or 777 percent.
