The 45th generation of Kosovo Correctional Service cadets graduated on Friday.

The solemn graduation ceremony was also attended by the acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, who said that the Correctional Service is being strengthened and that the 111 new cadets will be guarantors of justice and order in correctional institutions.

"With the graduation of the 45th generation of correctional officers, we further strengthen the correctional system and add to its ranks with trained professionals. They will be guarantors of justice and order in our correctional institutions. The graduation of 111 cadets today is not just a ceremony but a testament to our commitment to a strong, safe and fair correctional system. From today, you will be part of a key mechanism for the rule of law. A mechanism that requires discipline, professionalism and full dedication. Working in the correctional system is not easy but necessary. Through the reforms undertaken in recent years, we have made important steps in strengthening security, rehabilitating convicts and improving working conditions for correctional officers. We have invested in infrastructure, strengthened specialized units and expanded rehabilitation programs for prisoners," he said.

Meanwhile, the acting Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, said that through the reforms undertaken, the Kosovo Correctional Service has become increasingly capable and professional.

He said that 100 women have been employed in this institution in the last four years, strengthening the role of women in the Correctional Service.

The host of this activity, the general director of the Kosovo Correctional Service, Ismail Dibrani, said that this institution is a leader in the region.

At the end of the ceremony, the instructors who trained the Correctional Service cadets were presented with certificates of appreciation.

From 2007 to 2024, 56 people have escaped from Kosovo prisons or have not returned after using their weekend release rights.

Enver Sekiraqa, Faton Hajrizi, Ujkan Metaj and Marko Roshiq are the last four names to have escaped-"left" from Kosovo prisons, in a span of three months. /KosovaPress/
