Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti recalled the Likoshan and Qirezi massacre, for which he said that "neither the international prosecution after liberation nor that of our state after the declaration of independence" did justice.
"During these 27 years, many witnesses have passed away, making it even more difficult to uncover the truth. There are still many survivors and living witnesses waiting to testify. The inaction of the institutions is a double injustice for the victims and their families, who live with open wounds and a lack of responsibility," Kurti wrote on Facebook.
Kurti said that on February 28, 1998, the attack by Serbian special forces, with heavy artillery, continued for 28 hours on the villages of Likoshan and Qirez.
"After the attacks with helicopters and military vehicles, Serbian police forces entered. Inside the room, they shot and killed Rukie Nebihu, 27 years old. She was in her seventh month of pregnancy. She had her 3-year-old daughter in her lap," Kurti wrote, among other things.
Today marks 27 years since the start of the war in Kosovo, which began in the villages of Drenica - Likoshan and Qirez, where fighting took place between the Kosovo Liberation Army and Serbian criminal forces at a place called "Te tre lisat".Several Serbian police officers were killed in the fighting. As a result, enemy forces surrounded both villages, where they executed 24 innocent civilians./KosovaPress
