Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said that Kosovo cannot forget the epic of the KLA and the liberation war, in order to have a more secure future, writes KosovaPress.
At the memorial academy marking the 27th anniversary of the Kosovo Liberation Army's epic, Kurti said that there can be no reconciliation with Serbia until it not only apologizes, but vows to repeat the genocide against Kosovo as soon as the opportunity arises.
"Sometimes we are told not to look back but only forward, towards the common future, like that expression 'bygone, forgotten', used by those who need to reconcile. But how can there be reconciliation without an admission of guilt? How can there be forgiveness on the part of the victim when the aggressor not only does not apologize but vows to repeat the crime at the first opportunity he is given."Kurt said.
"SSerbia has not recovered from the Kosovo complex that has led it to cause several genocides, not only in our land but also in other Balkan countries. Serbia is the most armed country in our region, the closest ally of Russia, which calls Kosovo because it wants part of its state territory. It maintains forward offensive army bases near the border with our country. It undertakes terrorist attacks, sabotage, while we have closed or dismantled the illegal parallel structures in Kosovo. We have a duty to remember. We cannot forget the liberation war, nor the civilian victims, and especially the KLA epic precisely in order not to return to the past. By not forgetting the past, we have a secure future”, he added.
He added that the heroic fall of the legendary commander, Adem Jashari, and the sacrifice of the Jashari family members in March 1998, mobilized Albanians into the ranks of the Kosovo Liberation Army.He said that Adem Jashari and the KLA are inseparable from each other, reports KosovaPress.
However, Kurti said that unfortunately wars do not belong only to the past, as they have returned in this century to the European continent.
Therefore, the head of government emphasized the need to strengthen the KSF as the risk of military aggression is not far from the country's borders, writes KosovaPress.
And on behalf of the Jashari family, Marigona, daughter of the legendary commander-in-chief Adem Jashari, said that the March Epic shows how life is sacrificed for freedom.
