On World Children's Day, it was said that Kosovo has drawn up policies and actions that improve children's rights in the country. At the meeting of the Interministerial Committee for Children's Rights, Prime Minister Albin Kurti emphasized that investments for children are the right way for a sustainable future.
While mentioning the policies they have undertaken as an executive, Kurti said that for equality and equal opportunities they are increasing support through social policies.
The Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci, said that children are the future and all work is focused on their development.
Nagavci said that the demands and needs of children are at the center of the policies of this department that she leads.
The director of the Office for Good Governance within the Office of the Prime Minister, Habit Hajredini, said that they have managed to establish 34 children's rights teams at the local level.
The director of UNICEF in Kosovo, Veronika Vashchenko, has welcomed all the policies and progress that Kosovo has made for children's rights, but emphasized that for the year 2025, children's well-being is expected to improve.
The executive director at KOMF, Donjeta Kelmendi, said that the provision of social services in 2024 were in crisis.
She asked for greater attention in this direction, while also welcoming the increase in the budget for 2025 for this issue.
In this meeting of the Interministerial Committee for Children's Rights, there were also many children present who expressed their needs and demands, which mainly had to do with access for people with disabilities, digitalization and security in Kosovo's schools.
