The leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Memli Krasniqi, has written regarding the rejection of former President Hashim Thaçi's request by the Specialized Chambers to attend his father's funeral.
According to Krasniqi, this refusal is unfair and unacceptable.
"What is happening today has nothing to do with justice, but with discrimination. It is not law, but arbitrariness. It is not security, but inhumanity. A Court where justice forgets man is a Court that has lost its way," writes Krasniqi, reports KosovaPress.
Memli Krasniqi's full post:
Justice that forgets man is not justice! There are pains that cannot be measured by laws. The loss of a parent is one of those moments where a person should be protected by the system, not its victim.
At the core of any honest justice lies not only respect for the law, but also recognition of basic human needs and rights; the right to be separated from the one who brought you into life, to say goodbye for the last time, to stay close to your family on the hardest day.
The Specialist Chambers' rejection of President Thaçi's request to attend his father's funeral is unfair and unacceptable.
What is happening today has nothing to do with justice, but with discrimination. It is not law, but arbitrariness. It is not security, but inhumanity. A Court where justice forgets man is a Court that has lost its way.
Justice without empathy is just a cold, lifeless mechanism that serves neither the citizen nor society. History will not forget.Painful and unacceptable!
