CEC approves number of ballots and brochures

The Central Election Commission decided on the number of ballots and brochures to be printed for the parliamentary elections on February 9. At today's meeting, the CEC also extended the deadline for accreditation of observers of political entities until January 20.

The total number of ballots approved for printing is 1 million 752 thousand 650 ballots and over 16 thousand 900 brochures for candidates of political entities.

PDK Central Election Commission member Arianit Elshani said that even for these elections, the number of ballots is smaller than the total number of those eligible to vote.

According to the CEC decision, 1 ballots are for voting at regular polling stations, 664,100 for conditional voting, 28,450 for voting by persons with special needs and as reserve ballots, while 38,650 are for voting at diplomatic missions.

The Central Election Commission has also approved the operational security plan for the elections for the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo on February 9, 2025.

CEC member Arianit Elshani said that unlike other times, this plan also includes the aspect of cybersecurity.

And Sami Kurteshi from the Vetëvendosje Movement called on his compatriots to vote in the mailboxes at the addresses provided by the CEC.

The CEC, at today's meeting, decided to extend the deadline for political entities to apply for observer accreditation.

The deadline scheduled to end today, January 15, has been postponed to January 20, 2025.

CEC member Ibrahim Selmanaj stated that this extension of the accreditation deadline for political party observers does not violate the CEC's operational plan.

At today's meeting, the Central Election Commission decided to approve 2 additional polling stations at the voting centers in the diplomatic missions in Bern and Geneva, in the state of Switzerland. While for Stockholm, it was decided to open only one polling station, out of the two originally planned, due to the small number of registered voters, 271 of them.

Following the meeting, the CEC made a decision to approve the teams authorized to collect postal deliveries outside Kosovo.
