The total number of voters for the February 9 elections in Kosovo is over 2 million and 75 thousand. Meanwhile, the number of people who have registered to vote outside Kosovo is about 105 thousand voters. This was announced at the next meeting of the Central Election Commission.
The member of the CEC from PDK, Arianit Elshani, said that the final list of voters is not entirely clean because the citizens have not notified the competent bodies of the persons who have died.
"We have identified the cases that were included in the voting list, but that have a very late age, in some cases 115 years and others or 120 years, which neither the Statistics Agency of Kosovo, nor the Ministry of Finance have in their databases, but they appear in the list of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This number of voters is 2 million 75 thousand 868 voters as the final list. It is not a completely clean list, due to the fact that dead persons still appear in these lists, because the citizens have not notified the competent bodies...Unlike any other pair of elections that have been held before, in these elections the list of of voters has been created with two databases... Meanwhile, the number of people who have registered for voting outside Kosovo is 104 thousand 924 voters, of which 84 thousand 525 have chosen the method of voting by mail and 20 thousand and 399 voters have chosen the method of physical voting in the diplomatic representation. In contrast to the last local elections on December 17, there are 174 more voters," said Elshani.
Also, at this meeting, the recommendation for setting the maximum number of voters in polling stations was approved, for which it was decided that for polling stations in rural areas, the number of voters should be 999 voters. Meanwhile, in urban areas, a maximum of 950 voters.
Meanwhile, CEC member Sami Kurteshi expressed his concern about the large number of voters in Zurich, Dusseldorf, Munich and Stuttgart, for which he said that alternative spaces should be found or voters there should be encouraged to vote by mail.
At this meeting of the CEC, a decision was made that due to the renovations, the voting center in Vitomirica, Peja, which was in the "7 Shatori" Lower Secondary School, will be moved to the "Ali Hadri" Economic Secondary School. The number of voters in this center is over 10.
Among other things, the CEC approved with 11 votes the recommendation for the decertification of the candidate of the political subject Balli Kombëtar Albanian Democratic Party, Agim Elezi.
The chairman of the CEC meeting, Kreshnik Radoniqi, announced the approval of this recommendation.
