The President of the Kosovo Olympic Committee (KOK), Ismet Krasniqi, has considered 2024 as an extremely successful year for our sport, saying that the two medals won at the "Paris 2024" Olympic Games were the most culminating point.

Beyond the medals, Krasniqi says that last year Kosovo was also a meeting place for the most important figures in world sports as it was visited by representatives of about 40 countries through the European Sports Platform, but also on the 10th anniversary of KOK's membership in International Olympic Committee.

"There were three more important activities for 2024, starting with Kosovo's participation in the Olympic Games "Paris 2024" where Kosovo was represented with a small, but quite successful team, with 9 participants and from them we have two medals achieved and it is worth highlighting Akil Gjakova, because we are used to receiving medals only from girls, we were very close to Akil Gjakova also being rewarded with a medal, but it did not happen fate...Then we also had the European Platform in Pristina right after the Olympic Games in Paris. It is a very important activity for the whole of Kosovo, because there were close to 40 countries from all over Europe participating in this platform... We also had the 10th anniversary of the KOK's admission to the International Olympic Committee, it was an extremely event big", said Krasniqi.

According to Krasniqi, such activities have opened the doors for sports federations to request the organization of international sports events in our country and that the coming years are expected to be very productive in this regard.

In the interview for KosovaPress, Krasniqi also spoke about the Mediterranean Games in 2030. He said that there is a risk of losing the right to organize these games if we do not work at the right pace in the preparation of sports infrastructure and other organizational issues.

"Everything is possible when we don't work. We must work, show the whole world and all the countries that will be participants that we are serious and know how to organize. So, we should not neglect because negligence costs us a lot, but I do not believe that it will come to this moment, because everyone knows the value and importance of this event", said Krasniqi.

Krasniqi's mandate at the head of KOK expires in March, but he has revealed to KosovaPress that he will also run for a new four-year mandate.

"I personally aim for another four years, I also said this in 2021 when I became president that my goals are for two mandates and I myself have proposed that in the statute it should be that a president has only two mandates, no more a lot because I believe that there is nothing to give more than two mandates. I believe that I have achieved what I aimed for four years ago, this was my goal, my strategy, I tried to keep all the promises I made and why not even exceed them", said Krasniqi.

The current head of the KOK has also revealed the priorities of the Kosovo Olympic Committee for 2025.

"For 2025 I would mention two very important events - EYOF (European Youth Olympic Festival) winter and summer. The winter EYOF is now in February 2025 Georgia, while the summer EYOF is held in North Macedonia... However, obviously our main topic and goal is to immediately focus on the preparation of athletes for the Olympic Games 'Los Angelos Galaxy 2028'", said he.

Krasniqi has praised the work of the sports federations, saying that each of them is doing tireless work so that Kosovo's sport is strengthened and has top results in international competitions.
