The Energy Regulatory Office (ERO) has proposed that the price of electricity increase by 15 percent starting in April.

ERO's proposal comes after weeks ago, KOSTT, KEDS and KESCO requested an increase in electricity tariffs due to the import of electricity.

ERO has published a consultative report on maximum allowed revenues, where it is proposed to increase the price of electricity, reports KosovaPress.

“Publication of Consultation Reports on Maximum Allowed Revenues The Energy Regulatory Office (ERO) has published Consultation Reports relating to the maximum allowed revenues for the Transmission System and Market Operator (KOSTT), the Distribution System Operator (KEDS), and the Universal Service Provider (USP). This publication constitutes an important step in the tariff setting process and aims to ensure the opportunity for the involvement of all interested parties in this important process. The Consultation Reports present ERO’s initial proposals for the maximum allowed revenues for these enterprises.”

“This publication provides the opportunity for all interested parties to review the proposals and provide comments and suggestions that may influence the determination of final tariff decisions. Based on the results of these reports, it is expected that the average tariff increase for consumers will be around 15%.”

ERO invites regulated undertakings, consumers and all other interested parties to review the data and views included in the consultation report and to submit their comments and suggestions by 28 March 2025.

As a reminder, ERO annually reviews and sets electricity tariffs, which are announced every April 1 and are valid until March 31. In 2024, ERO reduced the price for commercial and industrial customers by three percent, but in 2023 it increased tariffs by 15 percent for all categories of customers.
