The heads of state paid homage at the "Adem Jashari" Memorial Complex in Prekaz, in memory of the glorious epic of the Kosovo Liberation Army. They honored the sacrifice of the Jashari family for freedom and independence, writes KosovaPress.
The country's President, Vjosa Osmani, said that the sacrifice, bravery and unparalleled courage of this family have made the Jashari Tower a symbol of a fortress of freedom "which even today protects the independence and sovereignty of our country."
Vjosa Osmani stated that from Prekazi, the younger generations are inspired for the path forward towards protecting the freedom achieved through sacrifice and blood.
"Today, like every year, we commemorate the Epic of the Kosovo Liberation Army, which is dedicated to our common remembrance in this time of freedom, to each martyr, to each hero, to each martyr who gave his life for Kosovo. But, above all, it is dedicated to the sacrifice, courage and unparalleled bravery shown by the Jashari family on March 5, 6 and 7, 1998, led by the legendary Adem Jashari.", said Osmani.
The Speaker of the Parliament, Glauk Konjufca, said that the Jashari family is the creator of the Kosovo Liberation Army. He added that "as a people, we owe the most for the freedom and liberation of Kosovo to the Jashari family," he writes. KosovaPress.
"The Jashari family is the creator of the Kosovo Liberation Army. It is the essence of the KLA. It has also made the highest, most sublime act of sacrifice for the freedom of our country. As a family, they have had embodied in their hearts and souls a truth that has saved the people of Kosovo. And this truth is that freedom is not won without weapons in hand, by fighting with weapons in hand, and it is not won without giving its martyrs.", Said Konjufca.
Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that the Epic of the Kosovo Liberation Army gave an unstoppable impetus to the armed uprising and the liberation war.
"Three generations of Jashars, 59 people in total, about half of them women and children, were sacrificed on March 5, 6 and 7, 1998 for the liberation of Kosovo, for freedom, independence and unification. The epic of the KLA gave an unstoppable impetus to the armed uprising and the liberation war. All-people demonstrations erupted and the first solidarity ever seen between Albanians in the Balkans and throughout the diaspora.", Said Kurti.
The Jasharis put up resistance on March 5, 6 and 7, where they faced Serbian forces, in 1998. It was the third attack on them, but it took the lives of 55 people - 22 of whom were from Adem Jashari's close family, writes KosovaPress.
