The system of links for electronic surveillance has been launched, which is being considered as a tool for the prevention of domestic violence in Kosovo.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said that with trackers on the hand or leg of the abuser, domestic violence will be extremely reduced.

Even the Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, said that this project is important for the protection of the lives of women and girls in Kosovo.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Xelal Sveçla emphasized that these devices will be used for other cases of criminal offenses, but according to him the focus is on the prevention of domestic violence.

The General Director of the Kosovo Police, Gazmend Hoxha, said that they have prepared teams for the implementation of this system.

The sum of 600 euros for the purchase of bracelets was allocated by the government in April last year.

Law on electronic surveillance of persons whose movement is restricted by court decision, is in force from July 1, 2015.

According to this law, electronic surveillance is done by a court decision and is carried out by placing a special device (bracelet) on the person's body. The same is monitored if it exceeds the perimeter allowed by the court.
