Although there are only 5 days left until the end of the term, no political entity has submitted to the Central Election Commission the application for certification for participation in the elections, nor the list of the names of the candidates for deputy.
The official deadline set by the CEC will end on Wednesday next week, December 11, at 16:00 p.m.
The spokesperson of the CEC, Valmir Elezi, told KosovaPress that this deadline will not be changed.
"Until December 11, 2024, at 16:00 p.m., political entities (political parties, coalitions, citizen initiatives and independent candidates) must submit to the Central Election Commission their requests for certification for participation in the elections for the Assembly of Kosovo that will be held on February 9, 2025. Also, during this period, political entities must also submit their lists of candidates for MP. This period started on September 1, but I can confirm that so far we have not received any application from political subjects", said Elezi.
Elezi has shown that the deadline set by the CEC is based on the Law on General Elections and as such cannot be changed.
"It is a legal obligation for political subjects to submit their applications for certification up to 60 days before the elections. So, the deadline set by the CEC for the application of political entities and the submission of the list of candidates for deputies is in accordance with the law and as such cannot be changed", said Elezi.
A few days ago, the CEC has announced that in order to facilitate the application process, the electronic platform https://certifiki.kqz-ks.org/ has been activated, which will serve political subjects to submit their application online. for certification and the list of candidates for deputies for the Elections for the Assembly of Kosovo.
To all political parties currently registered in the Republic of Kosovo and declared coalitions, the CEC, through the Office for Registration, Certification and Financial Control of Political Entities (ZRCKFSP), has created and sent 'users' through which they can access the platform and upload the application for certification and the list of candidates for MP.
Also, the CEC, through the office, will create 'Users' for all political subjects (initiatives and independent candidates) who seek to apply for certification for participation in elections.
