The match with Ukraine for qualification for the European Championship, but also the organization of the IHF Trophy for the Intercontinental Zone for handball players in the U18 and U20 age groups are two of the very important activities that the Kosovo Handball Federation (KHF) will have during this week.
In a press conference, the president of this federation, Edi Kolgeci, emphasized that eight major countries will arrive in Kosovo to participate in this qualifying tournament for the World Handball Championship, reports KosovaPress
"We have completed all the preparations and are just waiting for the participating countries to arrive at their hotels and begin training and preparations for the start of the World Championship qualifiers. 12 national teams from eight countries are participating, six of which will participate in the U18 and six in the U20, in fact it is organized for two generations. The participating countries are Bulgaria, Kosovo, Nicaragua, Nigeria, New California, Rwanda, the United States of America and Uzbekistan", announced Kolgeci.
Meanwhile, the secretary of the FHK, Muhamet Arifi, spoke about the importance of the National Team A match with Ukraine on Thursday at the Palace of Youth and Sports in Pristina.
"Regarding the Kosovo-Ukraine match, this is in the process of activities within the framework of the qualifications for the European Championship, which for four years now has been the second round for the Handball Federation and its national teams, and we hope, taking into account the form and mood of the team, that we aim to achieve this by winning against Ukraine and increasing our chances of qualifying for the European Championship," Arifi emphasized.He revealed that Kosovo is going into this match with two very important absences.
"This list is missing Kastriot Jupa and Arbios Mushkolaj who were part of the national team in the IHF Cup but due to their injuries are now off the field, while the other players are all present and I can freely say that they are complete. However, Kastriot Jupa also has an impact as one of the players with the most matches played for the Kosovo National Team," said Arifi.
Finally, the president of the FHK, Kolgeci, emphasized that these sporting events are preceding the great efforts that the Handball Federation is making so that in the near future Kosovo can organize a European or World Championship for seniors.
