British tourists may abandon Spain and Greece amid rising tensions - and head to Albania, TUI said, according to an article published in Birmingham Live.

The company TUI - which is rivaled by "Jet2", "Ryanair", "Easyjet" and others - said that Albania could be the next destination for the British.

The chief executive of TUI, Sebastian Ebel, told "The Independent" that after protests against tourism in Spain and Greece, with both countries seeing anti-tourism graffiti scrawled in recent weeks, Albania is expected to be a summer holiday destination for British tourists. and not only.

"I think the prospect is great and I wouldn't be surprised if we start a major program there," he said.

"Currently, the best way to visit Albania is to book flights and hotels. Albania has registered an increase in popularity over the last few months, especially the Albanian coast", added Ebel.

"Albania is a wonderful country. I am a big fan of Albania and I think we should and can do more", he said.

Ebel revealed that 10 years ago - when he had joined the executive board of TUI - he had suggested the possibility of including Albania in the list of holiday destinations, reports ATSh.

“At first, I couldn't convince people to invest there. But then two of our vacationers wrote their reviews on the website: "Our hotel, "Vila One Beach" - is located on the most beautiful and clean beach. The hotel's excellent chef offered us traditional Albanian cuisine every night - not from the menu, he just asked what we liked. We will return to Albania again", quoted Ebel.

"We aim for high-level tourism in Albania. Also, investments are being encouraged in the country for four and five star hotels with international names", said the Tourist Board of Albania last year.
