Spanish La Liga club Atletico Madrid have permanently suspended nine fans for racism and misconduct following incidents in the derby against Real Madrid and the Champions League match against Benfica.
During the Madrid derby, a number of objects and torches were thrown from the lower stand in the southern part of the stadium, while in Lisbon some fans behaved in a racist manner.
The process of identifying the persons involved lasted almost a month and the club in cooperation with the police examined all the material.
The club managed to identify nine people who have been banned from attending Atletico matches.
"We strongly condemn any expression of violence and our commitment to fight against this kind of attitude that has no place in football and damages the image of Atletico Madrid," the club said.
