The Assembly of Kosovo will hold an extraordinary session on Thursday, October 24, with the initiative of the Democratic League of Kosovo and the signature of 43 deputies to discuss the scandals in the Energy Corporation of Kosovo (KEK).

The initiator of this session, the head of the parliamentary group of the LDK, Arben Gashi, tells KosovaPress that it is necessary for the Assembly to discuss the scandals in KEK and the ongoing problems in the field of energy.

According to him, there is significant mismanagement in the electricity sector, while he mentions the publication of the messages of the coordinator of the ruling party, LVV, Dejona Mihali with the former head of KEK, Nagip Krasniqi.

On the other hand, the head of the Vetëvendosje Movement parliamentary group, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, tells KosovaPress that they do not have any information about the request for an extraordinary session of the opposition, until she announced whether the parliamentary majority will participate in tomorrow's session.

The calling of extraordinary sessions by the opposition for the monitors of the work of the Assembly is considered normal and useful for parliamentary life, while the boycott of the majority is criticized.

According to him, extraordinary sessions are the only ones that the opposition can invite and that are unstoppable by the government.

On the other hand, the researcher at the Kosovo Institute for Justice (IKD), Naim Jakaj, tells KosovaPress that it is in the public interest to hold extraordinary sessions and discuss the issues raised by the opposition.

He criticizes the parliamentary majority that by boycotting the extraordinary sessions it is violating democratic representation, the trust of citizens, duties and responsibilities as deputies of the Assembly of Kosovo. According to him, if the majority boycotts tomorrow's session as well, it damages the integrity of the Assembly.

Jakaj also mentions the absence of the Speaker of the Assembly, Glauk Konjufca, in the management of the past three extraordinary sessions.

Messages have recently been published between the coordinator of the Vetëvendosje Movement commission Dejona Mihali and the former head of KEK, Nagip Krasniqi, where Mihali invites her to a meeting at the Vetëvendosje Movement headquarters, but tells her to wear a hat.

The opposition parties have called three extraordinary sessions in the last two weeks, but they have been boycotted by the ruling party, Vetëvendosje Movement, and the partners of the governing coalition.
