The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, upon the proposal of the Prosecutor's Office, issued an arrest warrant for the head of the Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik, the Prime Minister of the Republika Srpska Radovan Višković and the Speaker of the National Assembly of the RS, Nenad Stevandić on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of attacking the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This decision was made after the suspects failed to appear at the scheduled hearings at the BiH Prosecutor's Office.
According to legal procedures, if the suspect does not respond to the first summons, the Prosecutor's Office may issue a detention order for them. If they continue to evade reporting, a domestic arrest warrant may be issued, and in extreme cases, an international arrest warrant through Interpol.
The activities of the BiH Prosecutor's Office followed the adoption of laws in the RS National Assembly that violate the constitutional order of the state, including attempts to limit the jurisdiction of state institutions in the territory of the Republika Srpska ethnicity, reports KosovaPress.
Dodik, Višković and Stevandić are to be held in custody for at least a month after their arrest. Dodik stated at yesterday's session of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska (NARS) that he, Prime Minister Višković and NARS President Nenad Stevandić have been ordered into custody."Today they ordered us to be detained," Dodik said, addressing Stevandic and asking if he was aware of the decision. "So, from today we are in detention," Dodik added, then sarcastically said: "Are you going to arrest us now? Come on!"
