The Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) has criticized the Central Election Commission (CEC) for the longest delay in announcing the final results of the parliamentary elections since 2010.
Eugen Cakolli from KDI reminded that the final election results that were announced today by the CEC, a full 34 days after voting day, mark the longest delay since the last elections 15 years ago.
He said that today's announcement of the results does not mark the end of the process, but only the closing of a chapter, as hundreds of complaints are expected to be filed in the next 48 hours, the full processing of which could take up to 12 days.
Of these, a total of 6 days are scheduled for the ECAP and another 6 for the Supreme Court. This is without counting the decisions that these institutions may make, which could potentially affect the certification of the results, he wrote on Facebook, reports KosovaPress.
Although these elections were held under the 2023 legal amendments, the CEC, for the first time, had six months to prepare for parliamentary elections. However, these delays cannot be attributed solely to the amendments, but to the inadequate management of the counting process by the NCC and the CRC – which was accompanied by unnecessary delays, concludes Cakolli. The Chairman of the CEC, Kreshnik Radoniqi, said today that despite the challenges they have faced, the Central Election Commission ensures that at no time has the integrity of the vote and consequently the will of the voters been violated.
The CEC informed political entities that they can file a complaint within 48 hours.
