Several schools in Serbia have announced that they will completely stop working tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, February 13th and 14th, while students marched on foot from Belgrade to Kragujevac today, where a massive protest is planned for Saturday.
On the other hand, in the teachers' and parents' groups on Viber, a call is circulating from the Vozhdoc Primary School Forum for a one-day work stoppage tomorrow, February 13, while tomorrow at 11:30 in front of the Ministry of Education, the Belgrade Primary School Pulse is announcing a rally of educators.
It is difficult to say who and how will work tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, as each school makes its own decision, writes Danas.
On Monday, meetings of educators working together through various initiatives were held almost simultaneously in Čačak and Belgrade.
The representative of the Association of Schools on Strike also participated in this meeting.
Some of the associations have highlighted the teachers' lists of demands that go beyond what the students in the blockade are demanding, so they are asking the relevant ministry to respect the 2023 Protocol, which was also a request from the representative education unions.
Changes are also required in legal regulations in the field of education, including amendments to the Law on Strikes, thus allowing educators the right to stop work, as well as the depoliticization of the Ministry of Education and the selection of the minister and his associates according to professional and expert competencies.
Today the students marched on foot from Belgrade to Kragujevac. They arrived in Markovc and at around 19:30 they planned to arrive in Orashac. The students will be accommodated in Šumadija in Arangjelovc tonight.
A large protest is planned for Saturday, on Serbian Statehood Day, in Kragujevac.Students are coming to the protest on foot from Novi Sad, Belgrade and Niš, while some are also coming by bicycle, while students from Kraljevo, Novi Pazar, Užice and Čačak are expected to arrive tomorrow.
Student protests and blockades in Serbia began after the collapse of a railway shed in Novi Sad on November 1, 2024, which killed 15 people and injured several others.
