Azem Bejte Galica was born on December 10, 1889 and died on July 26, 1924, from wounds received in the bloody battles for the defense of the free area of Drenica.
Azem Bejta was a prominent fighter for liberation and national unity, organizer of the armed movement in Kosovo against various invaders during the years 1912-1924.
He started his patriotic activity in the years 1910-1912, when he participated in the anti-Ottoman uprisings.
After the declaration of independence, it fought first, in 1912-1915, against the Serbian invaders, and then, in 1915-1918, against the Austrian and Bulgarian invaders. During the First World War, he led the war of factions against the restoration of the power of the Serbian bourgeoisie in Kosovo. He had his wife, Shote Galica, by his side until the end.
According to the directives of the Kosovo National Defense Committee, in 1919 he participated in the organization and management of the Dukagjin Plain Uprising, in 1921-1923 he defended the Neutral Zone of Junik, which served as a base for the insurgents of Kosovo and the Highlands, and supported the uprising of the highlanders of Northern Albania against the reactionary feudal-bourgeois regime.
In 1924, Azem Galica sent fighters to participate in the June Bourgeois Democratic Revolution. He died from the wounds he received in the bloody fighting of July 1924, for the defense of the free area of Drenica, "Little Arbania".
He died on July 26, 1924 at the age of 35. His burial took place in the 75-meter-deep cave "Kuku çe tërët", just as he had bequeathed it.
