A head-on collision between a bus carrying 65 passengers and a commercial truck carrying four people in southern Zimbabwe left 24 people dead on Thursday.

Police announced that the accident occurred near a toll gate in Masvingo-Beitbridge.

The bus, travelling from the national capital Harare to Beitbridge, was trying to overtake another vehicle when the accident occurred.

"The bodies of the victims were taken to the Beitbridge District Hospital morgue for post-mortem, while the injured have been admitted to the same hospital," police wrote on X.
