Kosovo Police arrested 16 people during action held on Wednesday in south Mitrovica, north, Leposaviq, Vushtrri and Skenderaj.

They are suspected of committing the criminal offenses of 'coercion' as well as 'unauthorized import, export, supply, transportation, production, exchange, brokerage or sale of weapons or explosive materials'.

The Police action comes after several months of investigations.

Police said that a total of 21 locations were searched in south Mitrovica, north Mitrovica, Vushtrri, Skenderaj and Leposaviq.

Two separate cases of intimidation and assault against an official have been reported to the police.

Through a press release, the Kosovo Police said that 9 firearms, 200 cartridges, various ammunition, 15 mobile phones, 2 pairs of handcuffs, a knife, gun barrels, gun receipts and 1 DVR were seized as material evidence during the search.

After being interviewed regarding the case, by decision of the prosecutor, 13 people are being detained for 48 hours.
