Poet Ali Podrimja, on July 21, 2012, was found without signs of life in Lodve, France, where he had traveled to participate in an international poetry festival.
Podrimja was reported missing by his family and relatives who said they had lost contact with him since July 18.
The denunciation that alarmed Kosovar diplomacy was made on July 20. A day later, the French police found the dead body of the poet near the city of Lodz where he had traveled to participate in an international poetry festival.
According to the report of the French investigators, no signs of violence were found on the body of the deceased and the possibility of suicide is ruled out. For the French authorities, Podrimja lost his orientation during a walk in the forest and after hours of movement he became dehydrated.
Ali Podrimja was born on August 28, 1942 in Gjakovë, during the war and in unfavorable circumstances, and had a very difficult childhood. He is the author of more than ten volumes of poetry and is held by critics as the most typical representative of Albanian poetry and as a poet with a name and on an international scale.
