The Ministry of Local Government Administration has completed the drafting of the Administrative Instruction for the citizens' initiative to remove the Mayor from office, Minister Elbert Krasniqi announced.
According to him, this instruction aims to determine the procedure for initiation, organization and delivery of the citizens' initiative for the removal of the mayor from office, in accordance with Law No. 03/L-040 on Local Self-Government.
"Local and international institutions have been part of the professional discussions, work and consultations and also of the working group. Regarding this issue, taking into account that it is the first time that it is dealt with by normative regulation, there have been many comments and suggestions. All of them have been addressed and the most substantive part has been addressed. This instruction gives the possibility of practical implementation of a right guaranteed by the law for local self-government. This right ensures the exercise of citizens' will in relation to the Mayor of the Municipality, who is directly elected by the citizens themselves", wrote Krasniqi on Facebook.
