At 10:00 a.m., the meeting of the Security Council of the Republic of Kosovo started after the serious event that happened in the north of the country.
In the early hours of the morning today (Sunday), the sergeant of the Kosovo Police, Afrim Bunjaku, was killed, while another policeman, Alban Rashiti, was injured. The serious incident took place in the village of Banjska in Zveçan where the police patrol was attacked.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti confirmed on social networks that the meeting of the Security Council has been invited for 10:00.
Meanwhile, President Vjosa Osmani has interrupted her official visit to New York.
Bekim Kupina, the president's media adviser, confirmed for KosovaPress that Osmani has canceled all the activities planned for Monday and Tuesday and will immediately leave for Kosovo.
We remind you that the Security Council of Kosovo has an advisory role in all matters related to the security of Kosovo and its contribution to regional stability. It recommends policies and strategies for security. The Security Council of Kosovo must provide information and assessments of the security situation in Kosovo, to enable the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to take relevant decisions regarding security issues.
Security Council meetings are not open to the public.
