The European Union is serious about enlargement, said the EU envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak.

In a Facebook post, announcing that this is his last week in this post, Lajcak also said that dialogue is more crucial than ever in today's world.

“This week at the World Economic Forum in Davos, I had the opportunity to engage with leaders, colleagues and friends on some of the most pressing issues of our time, including geopolitical stability and economic development. After a week of stimulating discussions, it is clear that dialogue is more crucial than ever in today’s world. I also met with leaders from the Balkans and participated in the traditional Diplomacy Dialogue for the region. In my intervention, I stressed that the EU is serious about enlarging the Union, but this will not happen by default and I urged the region to stay the course. As I begin the last week of my nearly five years in my current role, the coming days will focus on final briefings and handover procedures,” he wrote.

Lajcak will be succeeded by Danish diplomat Peter Sorensen, who has been confirmed by European Union ambassadors for the post of the bloc's special representative for the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
