The Central Election Commission has decided to close voting centers in diplomatic missions in three countries, in Canberra in Australia, Ankara in Turkey, and Iowa in the USA with 32 voters. This is due to the small number of voters.
CEC member Arianit Elshani said that all these registered voters will be able to vote by mail in the mailboxes that are opened by the CEC in these states.
Also, the design and slogan for the public information campaign have been approved.
At the meeting held on Tuesday, the CEC also accredited observers from dozens of foreign diplomatic missions accredited in Kosovo and international organizations. Among those accredited were local non-governmental organizations and observers from the Ombudsman Institution.
In general, the CEC accredited the next group of 1 observers to observe the elections for the Assembly of Kosovo, which will be held on February 680, 9, of which 2025 observers from election management bodies from various countries, 13 observers from foreign country representations accredited in Kosovo, 81 observers from local NGOs, 1 observers from various international organizations and 126 observers from the Ombudsman Institution.Of the total number of accredited observers, the CEC accredited around 400 observers from various international organizations, which are specialized in the field of elections, among which: the European Union Election Observation Mission, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the Association of World Electoral Officials (A-WEB), IFES, International IDEA, National Democratic Institute (NDI), International Republican Institute (IRI), EU Office in Kosovo, etc.
The CEC has also accredited more than 80 observers from various embassies in Kosovo, 24 of whom are from the US embassy and 30 from the UK. The embassies of other countries, such as France, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan, Finland, Sweden and Turkey, were also accredited by the CEC.
According to the CEC announcement, the February 9 elections will also be observed by electoral institutions from various countries, such as Albania, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Bulgaria.
